The Sanctuary at Lake Russell lies in part on the historic Millwood Plantation, ancestral home of the John C. Calhoun family, benefactors of the Town of Calhoun Falls, South Carolina. Positioned along the Savannah River basin in the Piedmont Plateau, The Sanctuary is nestled near the border of South Carolina and Georgia.
Nearby Abbeville, South Carolina, offers a wealth of sightseeing. Designated as part of the South Carolina National Heritage Corridor, Abbeville is considered to have one of the best collections of late Victorian architecture in the state.
While The Sanctuary is ideally situated for getting back to nature and “away from it all,” it is also in proximity to the finest cities in the Southeast. Located at the intersections of SC Highways 72 and 81, our community is approximately one hour from Augusta, Georgia, and Greenville, South Carolina; two hours from Atlanta; and three hours from Charlotte. |
